Northfield MN Retired Married 2
It’s been a fast 50 years. After high school, I earned an Aero Engineering degree and masters in Systems Management. My wife, Jill (Mary J. Erickson, HHS class 1968), and I have been madly in love for almost 46 years. We have 2 great kids and 2 super grandkids (one is in college). We’ve lived in Europe, thanks to our 7 years in the Air Force, but settled in Northfield, MN for the last 38 years, home of Cows, Colleges and Contentment. My working life had an aerospace orientation, primarily working in management focused on sensor development programs for high performance aircraft and engines. Although I’m now retired and volunteering at an historic grass strip airfield, I always loved to work on the next aerospace challenge. For fun, we love and support the arts, race a sailboat, cycle, ski and travel.  Best of all, our kids and grandkids are nearby and we are able to spend time with them.

Maple Grove MN Retired Widowed 2
Fifty  years - doesn't hardly seem possible!  Times change.  I was widowed in April of 2011.  I went to a grief support group and found it very helpful for several years. Then some of us decided we'd like to "move on".  There wasn't anything like that on-line, so three of us started a Moving Forward group!  It's been going for three years and still going strong, with twenty to thirty memebers.  We've talked about how we are a family and may not ever have been friends except for the spouse loss connection. It's good to get together every Thursday to listen to speakers or TED talks, do service projects, attend events and have dinner.  I have a significant other that I met at the grief group and we travel a lot.  We also spend most of the summer at the cabin on Lake Minnewaska, near Starbuck.  It's nice that life really does go on!

After my husband died, I needed something meaningful to do.  I became a volunteer at Hammer Residences in Wayzata.  They have compassionately cared for adults and children with developmental disabilities for over 90 years.  I started calling Bingo, but wanted to do more, so now I work every Monday (unless  I'm traveling!) in the finance department.  I also am at the front desk when the receptionist takes her lunch and breaks.  I recently was awarded the Hammer Community Partner award.

Quick family update:  My son (45) works at a small family computer business, my daughter (soon to be 40) works at the U of MN in health studies, my step-daughter works at Wells Fargo and my step-son works at a computer company.  My oldest step-granddaughter (28) is in medical school, middle step-granddaughter is working on her Masters in social work at the U of MN (24) and youngest step-granddaughter (9) is in 3rd grade.  I love to spend time with all of the family!

I won't be able to attend the reunion, but I'll be there in spirit.

St Paul MN Retired 3
I never knew I was a city girl until I moved to St Paul nearly 20 years ago. I love my life here. As many our age I have suffered great loss and experienced great love. I have three daughters - one living just two blocks away with my 8 month old grandson, Gus; a daughter and two teenage grandchildren living in northern Virginia and my youngest daughter living in Australia. I retired from an administration job in an elementary school nearly 10 years ago. I also coordinated and taught programs for at risk students - this was my passion! Facebook has allowed me to be in touch with over 100 of these students! I have not decided if I will come to the reunion. I wish you all a wonderful time and many happy memories recalled. Minneapolis MN Actor, Playwright Single
After five years at the U of M studying theater, I moved to Rochester NY where I did cabaret theater and did film work with Eastman Kodak.  Two years was enough of that and I had to decide to 1)  Try NYC  or 2) go back to MN where a new theater scene was growing.  Visited NYC to get a feel, didn't like it.  Dirty and crowded.  Back to MN with clean fresh air. Worked with several alternative theaters including Theater of the Deaf.  In 1983 I got hit by a car and broke major bones on the left side of my body.  I thought my career was over. While I was recovering, I went back to school and got a one year degree in Accounting at MTI.  But never got a chance to use it, because I started doing plays at the school and got a call to write plays for The Science Museum of MN new Science Live theater program.  Later I started acting in the company and directing.  Burnt out after seven years and decided to freelance.  Wrote plays on commission and acted with several theaters.  Then was invited back to SMM, but after two years I quit to go up North and become a caregiver for my mother to keep her out of the nursing home.  Seven years in a very small town where the cultural event is the Friday night meat raffle at the VFW.  Mother finally passed at age 95.  So I came back to Mpls and the theater scene.  Did the Titanic exhibit theater program at SMM then got the opportunity to play three of the best roles of my carreer, Roy Cohn in Angels in America, Clarence Darrow in Never the Sinner, and Robert, the mentally ill but gifted Mathematician in PROOF.  On the personal front,  I am gay and never got a chance to marry or have children.  But am proud of my two godsons Nikko Benson who is a composer in NYC and just won the Jonathan Larson Award and Rush Benson a professional dancer choreographer and actor in the Twin Cities. Eden Prairie MN Retired Married 2
Thank you to all who are making this reunion happen.

HHS was a great jumping off point; classmates, teachers, coaches and a process that worked.

Met Patty, married now 45+ years, and have two children, one son in law and two grand children.  The family makes the journey!

I retired twenty years ago with the objective of creating memories with, and for, my wife, kids and grand kids. This has been wonderfully fulfilling.

The journey included; BA, University of Minnesota, MBA, Michigan State University, fortune 500 and 200 companies, privately held companies(shareholder), and leverage buy out(equity partner, board member, officer). After retirement I received my Professional Ski Instructors of America certification and taught at Hyland(6years) and SkiJammers(12 years). Gave that up to head south earlier and longer each year.

Retirement gets us up north for the summer, Florida for the winter and Eden Prairie for the Holidays.

Can only make Friday night, so I hope to see many there..

Hello to my 1966 classmates!

I just looked at all of our classmates who have passed away.  The most personal to me was my wonderful cousin, Mike Lemmer.  It was sobering--people I sat next to in class, hung out with--gone.  There is a message in this--enjoy every day and hug those you love.

I'm lucky to have married a great guy in 1970--Mike Maki.  He's a commercial advertising photographer.  We have two sons--Matthew, owner of a driver's training school in New Brighton and Teddy--also a commercial advertising photographer--in the NYC area.

We have three grandchildren--Gabe (15), Leah (13) and a little surprise--Lucas (12 mos.) I still keep in close touch with Pam Ramsay and Lorna Call.  I often drive by our old high school building and think of all the things I learned there and the fun I had.

We lived during a remarkable time in history--Civiil Rights, the Beatles, Kennedy's assassination--we helped changed some things in the world.

Minneapolis MN Married 3
married a nice man in 1971.  Opps, I should have listened to my mother, not a good match, we divorced in 1974.  Met Neil, described  to me as a lawyer who drove a red Porsche, on a blind date in 1975. We will celebrate our 38th anniversary  soon.  We had three great kids who are surely taking their time with marriage and grand babies.  Our oldest son, 36, just got married  in April.  The other two, true "millineials" have long term relationships.  I've heard being a grandma is great!  We will see about that!

I had  a wonderful 40 year career as a special education teacher with the Minneapolis Public School S.  I retired in 2012 but am back at it part time working with adult English language learners.  They are so motivated to learn and wonderful to teach.

I look forward to catching up with many of you in September.  Will we recognize each other?
